Leadership Theory
Saddam was President of Iraq in the period 16 July 1979 to 9
April 2003. In leading his subordinates, Saddam was inclined to the old theory
of Behavior Study theory from the University of Michigan. According to the
Michigan study, there are 2 leadership: leadership centered at work and
leadership centered on employees. Saddam tends to focus on work, he gives
instructions to subordinates always conduct strict supervision of
subordinates, he also convinces subordinates to carry out tasks as they wish
and puts more emphasis on carrying out tasks rather than fostering and
developing their subordinates.
During his reign, many Iraqis felt suffering rather than
happiness. He started a war between Iraq and Iran when he invaded Iran in 1980.
At that time, the leadership of Shah Pahlevi who was a toy puppet from The United States had just been overthrown by his people and his position was
replaced by Ayatollah Khomeini. It was this background that led to the
outbreak of the Gulf War I, which apparently was masterminded by the state of
Adi Daya, the United States.
End of Saddam Hussein's Leadership
Saddam was eliminated by Britain and the United States
through an invasion in 2003. This invasion was carried out on the grounds that
Saddam developed weapons of mass destruction. Saddam hiding in an underground
bunker was captured by a joint United States force on December 13, 2003.
