Types of Leadership Styles
1. Authoritarian
The authoritarian leadership style is centered only on
oneself. This type is very dominant and does not provide an opportunity for
workers to express their opinions. Communication only goes in one direction and
all orders must be carried out. The influence of an autocratic leadership style
will make workers feel unappreciated. However, there is a positive impact given
that the pattern of workers in accordance with the plan. The bad consequences
can lead to protests because workers are not given the freedom to speak.
2. Democratic
The leadership style that is quite preferred by workers today
is democratic. Democratic leadership style always involves other members to
make decisions and not impose their will. Every employee is given the freedom
to express their aspirations for mutual success. Bosses who use this style will
manage their performance very easily because coordination is created by itself.
However, in terms of supervision is weak because all workers are considered to
have the same position.
3. Situational
Very rarely there are leaders who use situational leadership
styles. Besides serving as a giver of orders, also guide and help. The
influence of leadership style will make workers have examples that can be
replicated. The leader can adjust to the conditions of his workers. So you
don't have to work as your boss, you can also go straight down to provide
direction and supervision. It does require extra energy, but if done correctly
can provide maximum results.
4. Charismatic
Charismatic bosses can usually easily control their men by
using their authority and charm. The influence of leadership style will
certainly make employees carry out their orders directly without protest. If
you look at the notion of leadership style that has been mentioned above, this
type of character may be innate. Not everyone can be born with the soul of a
leader who is inherent in his nature, the ability is mostly obtained from the
work and learning process.
